Homecoming 2024 at Bishop Gorman High School took a nostalgic journey back to the '70s, celebrating both the era and the school’s 70th Anniversary. Spirit Week was filled with exciting events, including themed dress days such as Rock Band Day, Tie-Dye Day, and '70s Dress-Up Day, as well as a Senior Parade where students cruised into school on scooters dressed in extreme blue and orange. The traditional PowderPuff games were as thrilling as always, with the Juniors, Class of 2026, taking the win.
On Friday, October 18, the day began with the Alumni Memorial Mass held at the Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel, marking a meaningful start to the celebration of our 70th anniversary. The mass, celebrated by Fr. Jacob Knee, was enriched by the presence of former BGHS Principal Fr. Richard Rinn, CSV, and former BGHS Chaplain, Fr. Bill Kenny ’62.
Following the service, attendees enjoyed coffee and campus tours accompanied by Pinkbox Donuts adding a sweet touch to the morning as the alumni mingled and reminisced. The Homecoming assembly was a highlight with faculty and staff performing a choreographed '70s dance, followed by performances from our talented cheer, pom, and dance teams. In the afternoon, the annual tailgate event, complete with food and drinks provided by Rustic House, brought together alumni, students, and families. Children enjoyed meeting Mr. Gael, while adults reconnected with old friends.
During halftime of the Homecoming game, Marie Munoz ’25 was crowned Homecoming Queen. The Gaels followed up with a solid win, making the night even better. At the dance on Saturday night, Luke Martin ’25 was crowned Homecoming King, wrapping up the weekend’s festivities.
In addition to celebrating the '70s, this Homecoming marked a monumental milestone—honoring 70 years of Bishop Gorman’s rich tradition. The event perfectly blended nostalgia, school spirit, and modern-day fun, offering a glimpse of both the past and the bright
future ahead for the next 70 years.
